Dear Moderator,
My brief for my AS Media was to create a front cover, contents page and double page spread for a new music magazine. I chose to do my music magazine using a pop based genre that would attract teenagers to early twenty year old as this would be a large market for my magazine. I wanted to create a new and different magazine for both sexes, that can provide interesting information on all the top celebrities to keep my reader's up to date.
I have used labels on my blog to help make it simple and easy to navigate.
Yours Sincerly,

Liam,
I have had a look at planning Prezi and it is a little brief and the comments are very generic. I think you need to have more of a sense of the genre of your magazine and how the different components feed into that genre of music and how they would in turn appeal to your audience rather than saying they are good or the best.

Media evaluation of pre lim task
· Did you plan your
magazine? If not, what have you learnt about the importance of research and
planning?
I looked at some other magazines on the market but I didn’t fully plan
it. I have learnt that if I plan and research it will make the task much easier
as I can take ideas form other magazines and see what else is on the market. I
wasn’t entirely sure on how to lay out some of my pages so if I did more
research it would help me know this.
· What technology did
you use to complete the task and how did you use it?
I used my phone to take pictures which and then I used Serif PagePlus X6
to edit and create my magazine. I also
used E-mail to transfer the files from my phone to the computer. I used Serif to do all of my front cover and contents, I also used some nice effects on the front cover and contents like the transparency tool and text tool. I also used the cutout studio and PhotoLab in Serif to cut out and edit my pictures.
· Did you encounter
any difficulties? If so, what were they and how did you overcome them?
I didn’t encounter too many problems, just mainly finding out how to do
stuff on Serif which I either asked a friend how to do it or figured it out
myself. One problem I faced was trying to change the colour of a background
which I was helped with by a friend.
· How successful was
your magazine? Please identify what worked well, and with hindsight, what would
you improve/do differently?
I think the heading worked quite well and I liked using the
transparency tool as it creates a nice effect on shapes etc. In future I would
think of better articles, get more pictures and use more techniques when
producing the front cover/magazine.
· What have you
learnt from completing this task? Looking ahead, how will this learning be
significant when completing the rest of your foundation coursework, do you
think?
I now know what goes into making a magazine and I can use different
techniques on Serif. This will help if I need to create anything on Serif in
future as I now know how certain things work and how to create a magazine. I have also learnt how to cut out and edit pictures in Serif so that they look more professional.
